Canadian salon owner empowers girls through natural hair workshop
Nancy Falaise is a beauty shop owner in Montreal, Canada. One Sunday every month, Falaise closes her shop to hold a natural hair empowerment workshop for teenage girls.
The workshop teaches participants hair care technique including washing, detangling, and styling. Additionally, it provides a safe space in which participants can open up about their struggle to EMBRACE their crown. Therefore, participants are left with value information and newly formed friendships which allow their self-perception and confidence to evolve.
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) did a documentary to highlight Falaise’s movement. As I watched the docu, I smiled and even got teary at times. This is because the workshop is everything women like me needed during our childhood. You can watch the documentary below.
